If this post isn’t the most relatable thing I’ve read.. I couldn’t tell you what is. Boy, howdy do I love life with a dog. Can’t remember what it was like without Wes nor do I want to. I’ve never felt more ‘present’ then when I’m up in the hills running alongside her. She’s got this look she only gives you when we’re running and she finds her way back to you. If I could put it to words it’d be “thank you, but please keep up!”
Hey Lawson. I recognize the view Acre's enjoying from Waterworks. Who would have guessed that there's another outdoorsy writer in this town! Life is better with dogs, indeed. Mine and I are southeast-siders, so most often on the Pattee trails. I can absolutely relate to the enjoyment you get from being with a dog who's enjoying himself so much. The woods are made even better by the body language of dogs. Cheers!
I’ve been writing about an “interestingly buried” beer bottle one of my dogs pointed out on a recent Pattee Canyon hike. The fact that he bee-lined for it from a good distance kinda blew my mind, and my research has lead me to something called an umwelt, or sensory bubble, which got me thinking about the echo chamber problem we have in this country (and I’d guess worldwide.) Anyway, the Pattee canyon “message in a bottle” story has become more tangled and difficult than I’d hoped, so I take breaks to comment and reply at length. Haha. Cheers!

Loved this. Sat here and scratched behind my Rooster's ears while I read it. I think he and I will go out and throw a ball around for a while.

Thanks for reading! There are at least a couple Missoulians I’ve come across on here now, all connected by the waterworks and jumbo view. Cheers!
You’re welcome. My pleasure to read your stuff.

I couldn't agree more! Dogs are remarkable and their ability to monitor/sense human emotion continually surprises me.
